Russian bandy player Osokin, who attacked a judge in Norway, was suspended
Russian bandy player Dmitry Osokin, who plays for the Norwegian club Hovik, was disqualified until the end of 2024. NRK reports this.
On January 14, during the national championship match against Ullevål, referee Fredrik Bjerseth Vigsnes sent the Russian off for ten minutes. In response, Osokin attacked the referee: he pushed him with his shoulder and also swung his stick. He was disqualified for the attack and suspended until the end of the year.
“There are no mitigating circumstances for this action. Attempting to hit a referee is also a very serious incident. Both actions of the hockey player have a high degree of seriousness,” the championship organizers said in a statement.
Howik’s management has already apologized to the injured referee. Osokin will have the opportunity to challenge the disqualification.
