Russian basketball player disqualified due to cocaine

Russian basketball player Nikita Kurbanov was disqualified due to cocaine

Russian basketball player Nikita Kurbanov, who suspended his career, was disqualified for three months for violating anti-doping rules. This was reported on the website of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).

According to RIA Novosti, a prohibited substance of class S6a (cocaine) was found in the player’s doping test. The suspension is effective from the date of the decision, namely January 10, 2024. In this case, the period of temporary suspension is taken into account. It began to take effect on October 20, 2023, so Kurbanov will be able to return to performances on January 20.

Kurbanov suspended his career on October 27, 2023. CSKA, for which the basketball player played, noted that he made this decision for personal reasons.

37-year-old Kurbanov, together with the army team, won the Euroleague three times. He also played for the Russian national team.
