Russian divers did not receive neutral status and will miss the 2024 Games
Russian divers and open water swimmers were not given neutral status. This was reported on the Aquatics Integrity Unit website.
Not a single Russian athlete in these disciplines will compete at the World Aquatics Championships. This tournament is the last opportunity to qualify for the Olympics. Thus, Russian divers and open water swimmers will miss the 2024 Games.
On December 8, the International Olympic Committee announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the Games.
On September 4, the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be able to take part in events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one swimmer. It is noted that a maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete.
