Ukrainian tennis player spoke about the admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympics

Elina Svitolina said that she is waiting for a reaction from the NOC of Ukraine on the admission of Russians to the Olympic Games

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina spoke about the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

She emphasized that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has already made a corresponding decision and now she is waiting for a response from the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine. “We are monitoring the development of the situation, we will see what the next step will look like,” Svitolina said.

Earlier, another Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko felt that Russians should boycott the Games as a sign of solidarity with their compatriots who were not admitted. “I support that Ukraine will send the strongest team in history to the Olympics, and Russians and Belarusians will watch the competition on TV,” she noted.

On December 8, the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the Games. Representatives of team sports will also miss the tournament.
