Tarasova said that the 2024 European Championship medalists were lucky because there were no Russians

Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the performances of single skaters at the European Championships. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Tarasova said that all the medalists skated amazingly, and she enjoyed their performance. “All three of them were lucky that there were no Russian girls. Because we don’t know where they would be instead of the pedestal in this case,” the specialist added.

The singles tournament ended on January 13. Belgian Luna Hendrix won gold. Last year’s European Championship winner, former Russian Anastasia Gubanova, representing Georgia, won silver. Another Belgian, Nina Pinzarrone, rounded out the top three.

The 2024 European Championships take place in Kaunas, Lithuania, from January 10 to 14. The Russians are missing the competition due to sanctions from the International Skating Federation (ISU).
