The KHL announced that it would subject referee Naumov to sanctions for obscene language
The chief referee of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Alexey Anisimov reacted to the obscene language of referee Denis Naumov against Avangard head coach Mikhail Kravets in the regular season match against Amur. His words were published on the KHL Telegram channel.
A functionary on behalf of the league’s refereeing department apologized. “This episode does not look good on the referee, we are all one hockey family, and we need to treat each other with respect. The arbitrator will be subject to disciplinary sanctions,” he noted.
The incident occurred earlier on Friday, January 12. “Shut your mouth,” Naumov addressed Kravets in an obscene manner, who had previously asked the referee a question. The judge’s answer surprised both the coach and the nearby hockey players.
The match ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of Avangard. The Omsk club ranks second in the Eastern Conference standings with 69 points. “Amur” from Khabarovsk is ninth with 50 points.
