Russian chess player Gunina spoke about the exacerbation of lupus after the onset of SVO
Two-time world blitz champion Valentina Gunina revealed details about her severe autoimmune disease – lupus. The words of the Russian chess player are quoted by Sport Express.
The athlete said that she constantly takes special medications to dull the pain and undergoes examinations in the hospital. “The disease can sleep, but against the background of some events it sharply worsens. Lupus reacts to stress, for me it clearly woke up after the onset of SVO,” she noted.
Gunina also shared that she follows the American singer Selena Gomez, who also suffers from lupus. “Selena shares all this with subscribers, tells everything in detail. I’m also ready to do this – in the hope that it will help someone,” she added.
Earlier, the chess player said that she first felt ill six years ago. “It wasn’t until May 2023 that I was diagnosed. Lupus mimics different diseases,” she explained.
On December 30, Gunina became the winner of the World Blitz Championship. She won her first title in 2012.
