Ecuador is going through moments of tension in terms of security issues, and in view of the violence that occurred on Tuesday, the Government has taken measures due to the internal armed conflict.

The events caused changes at all levels: companies, enterprises and even sports, in all these areas activities were suspended.

One of the teams that had to stop work in the preseason was Barcelona SC due to the complicated situation in Ecuador.

Gustavo Flores, the goalkeeper coach of the Yellows, contacted the Chilean press to get his version of the tense events that took place, especially in Guayaquil.

“Today (Wednesday) we had a double shift. With about 15 or 20 minutes until afternoon training (Tuesday), we turned on the television and watched what was happening live on the Guayaquil channel (TC television). That’s when the concern started, but we didn’t know what dimension it could be or what caused it,” he said.

“Yesterday (Tuesday) the president’s statement arrived in which he gave all the steps to be taken with drug traffickers in Ecuador (…). We started to determine the expert staff and attendees and we were not in a position to do a second shift. It took us a long time to get to the end where we lived. A feeling of paranoia was created and we all started to learn about these events that are happening,” he added in a radio interview. DNA from Santiago.

A member of the expert staff also mentioned the murders that are happening in the country, especially in the city.

“Some time ago they killed the presidential candidate (Fernando Villavicencio) and three or four mayors (mayors) who were also killed. It’s quite complicated. Guayaquil is a very complex city to live in. These are marked areas, marked times. “I’ve been here for a year and I can’t say anything about safety, because the area where I live is a world away, but where the stadium is, it’s a dangerous area,” he said.

“This is recent. Obviously, insecurity at the South American level is everywhere and the impact that today’s event had was worldwide, which is what these people were looking for. I think it is stable here, but all these things make you think and doubt,” he added.

He also referred to the measures taken by the Government and hopes that peace will return to the country.

“There was already a state of siege, then normal, and with this the Government has already introduced a state of war, where there will be no schools and everything will be over on the line. Two or three days of complete calm in the city at the most,” he stressed.

“Crime is waiting for these things and the measures taken can be correct. Ecuador is a small country, but at the same time it is big. In addition, three important drug traffickers have escaped from prison and are causing fear among the population,” Flores concluded. (D)
