The Boxing Federation of Ingushetia denied Emelianenko’s adoption of Islam

Lom-Ali Gazgiriev denied the adoption of Islam by Alexander Emelianenko

The head of the Boxing Federation of Ingushetia, Lom-Ali Gazgiriev, denied the information that the Russian mixed style (MMA) fighter Alexander Emelianenko converted to Islam. His words are quoted by Sport Express.

“He is actually a believing Christian. Here is his rosary – you saw it – he reads his prayer. There is a Bible in rehabilitation. He knows,” Gazgiriev said.

On January 9, coach Rasul Magomedaliev announced Emelianenko’s conversion to Islam. According to him, accepting faith helped Emelianenko get rid of alcohol addiction.

On December 14, Nikita Burchak, Emelianenko’s manager, announced the completion of the athlete’s rehabilitation. According to him, the fighter continues to be at the center in Ingushetia and is undergoing training there.

41-year-old Emelianenko has 40 MMA fights, in which he won 29 victories and suffered 10 defeats. Another fight involving a Russian ended in a draw.
