The era of the Paz family in the Liga de Quito has come to an end. Until January 31, there will be a Special Football Commission headed by Esteban Paz at the club, but before leaving, the capital entrepreneur revealed the value of the liabilities and assets left by his management.

“It was 26 years of work, going through a pandemic (COVID-19 that started in 2020 and ended in 2022) from which we ‘difficultly’ came out. Yes, liabilities have been generated, and they are very strong, there are $30 million in liabilities, compared to $72 million in assets,” Paz explained in detail.

Liga de Quito, a team ‘not very well known in Spain’, are interested in former Independiente del Valle coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez, according to the Iberian press

And he added that “at the beginning of the year, a very large debt was managed and an advertising revenue trust was created, which was used to manage the $9 million debt. We ended the year with a surplus of $900,000.”

Before confirming the end of his administration, Paz commented in an interview: “This cannot be forever, it is normal that it cannot be forever.”

Esteban Paz: I knew it wouldn’t last forever, but they’re pulling me out of the Quito league

“I never dreamed or thought it would happen like that. In order to kick me out of the League, they had to pull me out and this is how they kick me out,” he concluded his intervention.

Under Paz’s management, the white team won the Copa Libertadores (2008), the only team in Ecuador to do so; 2 South Americans (2009 and 2023); and 2 South American Cup Winners’ Cups (2009 and 2010).

At the national level, he won 12 titles (8 in the local championship series A, 1 in B, 1 in the Ecuador Cup and 2 Super Cups). (D)
