CAS will consider the ROC’s appeal against the IOC’s decision to suspend membership on January 26
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has announced a hearing date for the Russian Olympic Committee’s (ROC) appeal against the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) suspension decision. This is reported on the court’s website.
The meeting will take place on January 26. The appeal was registered with CAS on 6 November.
ROC asks to cancel the IOC decision and restore full membership in the structure of the organization. The arbitration award will be final and binding, but the parties have the right to appeal to the Swiss Federal Tribunal within 30 days.
On October 12, the IOC suspended the ROC until further notice due to the inclusion of representatives of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the organization. “The ROC can no longer act as a National Olympic Committee and receive funds from the IOC,” explained IOC Communications Director Mark Adams.
