Voetbalzone: Quincy Promes may be extradited from the UAE to the Netherlands because of the photo

Spartak Moscow legionnaire Quincy Promes faces extradition from the UAE to the Netherlands and further arrest. Voetbalzone became aware of this.

The Dutchman published photos from his birthday in Dubai on social networks. Now the Dutch prosecutor’s office can inform the UAE authorities about the footballer’s presence in the country. It is currently unknown whether she did so.

Spartak lawyer Tatyana Zavyalova responded to information about the possible extradition of Promes in an interview with Sport24. “The verdict in the Quincy Promes case has not entered into force and is under appeal. There is no question of extraditing the football player from the UAE to the Netherlands,” she noted.

In June 2023, a Dutch court sentenced Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison. The attacker was found guilty of involvement in the armed attack and stabbing of his cousin. The footballer continues to play for the Moscow team and planned to appeal the verdict.

Last January, Promes missed Spartak’s training camp in the UAE due to problems with the law at home. His lawyer Maxim Kalinov stated that there is a risk of extradition of the football player, because in 2021 the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands signed an agreement on the mutual extradition of criminals.

Before this, it became known that Promes was suspected of having connections with Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. According to the Dutch prosecutor’s office, in 2019 the midfielder was involved in transporting a large amount of cocaine belonging to Wortel. During the transportation, the drugs were stolen, after which the player paid the Surinamese 250 thousand euros as compensation, fearing for his safety.
