Manager Abdel-Aziz said that it is difficult for him to find an opponent for Umar Nurmagomedov
Manager Ali Abdel-Aziz said that it is difficult for him to find an opponent for Umar Nurmagomedov, who is the cousin of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Abdel-Aziz wrote about this on his page on the social network X.
“Everyone is afraid of Umar. The UFC is working hard to make the fight happen, but no one is agreeing to it. Finding a fight for Umar is even more difficult than for Khabib. This is not the first year I’ve been doing this, but this is the first time I’ve seen something like this,” the manager noted.
In December 2023, Umar Nurmagomedov complained about the lack of opponents in the UFC. “What should I do if no one wants to fight me?” — he wrote on social networks. Before this, there were reports that the Russian’s next opponent would be American Corey Sandhagen. It was specified that the fighters could meet at the February UFC Fight Night tournament, but this information has not yet been confirmed.
28-year-old Umar Nurmagomedov has 16 victories and not a single defeat in mixed martial arts. The Russian, who competes in the bantamweight division, has won four fights in a row in the UFC. The last time he entered the Octagon was in January 2023, when he knocked out Brazilian Raoni Barcelos in the first round.
