Two passes from Ovechkin and a goal from Kuznetsov did not help Washington defeat New Jersey.
The Washington Capitals lost to the New Jersey Devils in a regular season match of the National Hockey League (NHL). Results are available on the league website.
The meeting ended with a crushing score of 6:3. Russian forwards Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov scored two points each: Ovechkin scored an assist double, Kuznetsov had a goal and an assist. However, this did not help the capital club win.
Washington is sixth in the Eastern Conference Metropolitan Division with 42 points. New Jersey is fifth with the same number of points.
Ovechkin continues his pursuit of the NHL sniper record, which belongs to Canadian Wayne Gretzky. The Russian has 830 goals scored, the gap from the leader has been reduced to 64 goals.
Ovechkin has been playing for Washington since 2005. Together with the club, he won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
