Kostomarov and his wife Domnina wished the fans good health in the New Year
Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov recorded a video message to fans on his Telegram channel.
Together with his wife Oksana Domnina, he wished everyone good health in the New Year. “And, of course, so that your loved ones will always be there,” the athlete noted.
On December 21, Kostomarov was named Russia’s Athlete of the Year 2023. He was named athlete of the year by eight percent of citizens surveyed by VTsIOM.
In January 2022, Kostomarov was hospitalized with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire hand of his right hand and several fingers of his left. Later, he was fitted with prosthetic legs and right arm. After this, Kostomarov continued to actively engage in sports. On December 17, he went on the ice on skates and showed a joint performance with Tatyana Navka.
