Journalist Karpov: the duration of Slutsky’s contract with Shanghai is one year
Russian coach Leonid Slutsky signed a contract with the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua for one year. Journalist Ivan Karpov reported on the duration of the agreement on the Telegram channel.
As the source learned, this practice is the norm in China. “Coaches at Super League clubs rarely stay for more than 1-2 seasons. Especially foreign ones, from whom they immediately expect miracles,” the journalist noted.
Slutsky’s signing of a contract with Shanghai became known on December 27. The specialist will head the club from January 1, 2024.
Slutsky’s last club was Rubin Kazan, where he worked from 2019 to 2022. He left the team of his own free will. The coach is known for his work at Krylia Sovetov, Moscow, CSKA, as well as the English Hull City and the Dutch Vitesse. In addition, from 2015 to 2016 he led the Russian national team.
