The head of the IIHF Tardif refused to consider relations with the FHR friendly
The head of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF), Luc Tardif, responded to the words of the vice-president of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) Roman Rotenberg about friendly relations between organizations. He is quoted by Sport Express.
He noted that everything changed after the case of CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. “What needs to be done to return to friendly relations? Accept the authority of the IIHF, agree to respect the concept of a contract, respect international transfer rules and never allow a player suspended by the disciplinary commission to enter the ice,” Tardif said.
On August 14, the IIHF suspended Fedotov for four months. However, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) refused to honor the suspension and allowed him to play in the league anyway.
CSKA was banned from conducting international transfers for a year. The IIHF refused to register a contract with Fedotov for the new KHL season due to the player’s existing agreement with the National Hockey League (NHL) Philadelphia Flyers.
