Justin Gaethje challenged Islam Makhachev to a fight in the UFC and promised to blow his head off

American mixed style (MMA) fighter Justin Gaethje challenged the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Islam Makhachev to a fight and promised to blow his head off. He wrote about this on his page on the social network X.

“I am waiting for a call. Dana White, I’ll be ready. Islam, let’s see who will cut off who’s head first. [Бразильский боец смешанных единоборств Чарльз] Oliveira got a chance, but didn’t show up for the rematch,” Gaethje wrote.

Among the contenders for a fight with the 32-year-old Russian fighter, in addition to Gaethje, is the Brazilian Charles Oliveira. He faced Makhachev in October 2022 in a title fight and lost via submission. The rematch, planned for October 2023, did not take place due to the Brazilian’s injury; he was replaced by the Australian Alexander Volkanovski, who also lost to the Russian champion ahead of schedule.

In total, Makhachev had 26 fights in his career, in which he won 25 victories, suffering only one defeat. The Russian tops the UFC rankings regardless of weight categories.
