Sikharulidze: Sofya Samodelkina must decide on her own about moving to Kazakhstan
Acting President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Anton Sikharulidze commented on the transition of figure skater Sofia Samodelkina to the Kazakhstan national team. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.
Sikharulidze said that Samodelkina must understand whether she will fight with those who showed themselves at the Russian Championship, or will look for easy ways in the national team, where she will have no competitors. “I would like to emphasize once again that such a decision [о переходе] can only be adopted by the executive committee of the FFKKR,” he noted.
On October 24, Samodelkina received permission from the International Skating Union (ISU) to take part in the Kazakhstan Championship. The 16-year-old athlete’s desire to change her sports citizenship became known in August.
Samodelkina is Russian vice-champion in women’s singles skating among juniors. The skater also has victories and prizes at the stages of the Russian Cup.
