On December 26, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put on the wanted list Russian fencers Violetta and Sergei Bida, who left for the United States. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the department’s search database.
“Bida Sergey Olegovich… Grounds for the search: wanted under an article of the Criminal Code. Date of birth: February 13, 1993,” notes the Ministry of Internal Affairs website.
The same card was published on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the name of Violetta Bida. However, it is not specified exactly under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation that the athletes are wanted.
In early July, it became known that three Russians would perform at the US Championship: Bida, fencer Oleg Knysh and saber fencer Konstantin Lokhanov, the ex-husband of two-time Olympic champion Sofia Pozdnyakova.
