The Ministry of Internal Affairs put on the wanted list the fencers Sergei and Violetta Bida, who left for the USA

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has put Russian fencers Sergei and Violetta Bida, who left for the United States, on the wanted list for criminal charges. TASS reports this.

The article of the Russian Criminal Code under which Tokyo Olympics vice-champion Sergei Bida and his wife, world championship medalist Violetta, are being sought, is not named.

In early July, it became known that three Russians would perform at the US Championship: Bida, fencer Oleg Knysh and saber fencer Konstantin Lokhanov, the ex-husband of two-time Olympic champion Sofia Pozdnyakova. It was noted that athletes should condemn the actions of Russia and not show affiliation with the country at competitions.

In March, the European Fencing Confederation allowed Russian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. However, the organization later denied entry to many leading athletes.
