Bivol’s manager Kornilov said that the fight with Beterbiev could take place in March
Vadim Kornilov, manager of Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol, named a possible date for the athlete’s fight for the title of absolute world champion against Artur Beterbiev. His words are quoted by TASS.
According to him, the fight could take place in March or April next year. “There is little on our part that can stop this fight. In the case of Beterbiev, everything depends on the fight against Callum Smith and on his consent,” Kornilov said.
Beterbiev will meet Briton Smith on January 14. A native of Dagestan, currently competing under the flag of Canada, is the world champion according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF), and the World Boxing Organization (WBO). The 38-year-old athlete has 19 wins and no losses.
On December 24, Bivol defended his World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight title. He defeated Briton Lyndon Arthur by unanimous decision. In his professional career, 32-year-old Bivol won all 22 fights.
