The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has begun paying compensation to athletes who are not allowed to participate in the 2024 Games. This was announced by the general director of the organization Vladimir Sengleyev, whose words are reported by Match TV.

Sengleev said that 127 athletes have already received financial support. “Payments will be made in stages: as soon as we understand that the federation is not taking part in the Games, we will make a transfer,” he explained.

In October, the head of the ROC, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, revealed the amount of payments to participants in the Olympic Games of different years, who are currently active athletes. “500 thousand rubles will be paid for gold medalists, 350 thousand rubles for silver medalists and 250 thousand rubles for bronze medalists. 150 thousand rubles will be paid to the participants of the Olympic Games,” he noted.

On December 8, the International Olympic Committee announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. Six Russians and five Belarusians have currently qualified for the Games. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine and have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not get to Paris. Representatives of team sports will also miss the tournament.
