Snowboarder Wild said he will refuse to go to the 2026 Games as a neutral
Olympic champion in parallel giant slalom Vic Wild spoke about performing in a neutral status. His words are quoted by TASS.
The snowboarder said he would refuse to go to the 2026 Olympic Games under a neutral flag. “I will only compete for Russia. I believe that we have a very high chance of winning a large number of medals. The Russian team will beat everyone in Milan in two years,” he shared.
In October 2022, Wild explained the decision to remain in Russia. The snowboarder said that the country needs him. He added that for him, leaving is an attempt to escape from problems, and not a way to solve them.
Wild was born in the USA and received a Russian passport in 2012. As a member of the Russian national team, the snowboarder won two gold medals at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. He also won bronze at the 2022 Games in Beijing.
