Figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva called moving to Canada a step into the abyss

Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva described moving to Canada. Her words are quoted by Match TV.

The athlete called the event a step into the abyss. “One woman told us to take buckwheat, matches and honey with us. Like, it’s wilderness there and there’s nothing. We took it all out of fright. But it’s clear that all this is there,” she said.

From 2018 to 2020, Medvedeva trained under coach Brian Orser in Canada. In September 2020, the athlete announced her return to Eteri Tutberidze, with whom she had previously worked.

Medvedeva is a two-time world and European champion. At the Games in Pyeongchang, she won silver, losing to compatriot Alina Zagitova. She also became a silver medalist at the 2018 Olympics in team competition. Currently, the athlete, who has completed her career, runs her own YouTube channel.
