Figure skater Petrosyan won the Russian Championship, Kamila Valieva became third
Russian figure skater Adelia Petrosyan became the winner of the Russian Championship, held in Chelyabinsk. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
In total, coach Eteri Tutberidze’s student received 246.53 points. Sofia Muravyova took second place with 239.40 points. Kamila Valieva came third with 237.99 points.
After the short program, Valieva was in the lead, and Petrosyan was in second place. Thus, Valieva lost to Tutberidze’s student.
On November 10, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) completed hearings on Valieva’s case. The court announced that the final decision in the athlete’s case will be made in January 2024.
At the 2022 Olympic Games, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to the doping scandal involving her. Traces of a prohibited drug were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021.
