Iga Šwiętek named the highest paid athlete of 2023
Polish tennis player Iga Szwiatek was named the highest paid athlete in 2023. The rating was compiled by Forbes magazine.
The world number one earned $23.9 million before taxes and agency fees. Of these, 9.9 million were prize money for performances at tournaments, and another 14 million came from sponsorship contracts for the Polish athlete.
In second place with 22.1 million in income is Chinese freestyle skier Eileen Gu, for whom sports competitions brought in 100 thousand dollars. She earned the rest from advertising contracts. The top three highest paid athletes are American tennis player Cori Gauff – $21.7 million (6.7 + 15).
In the top 10 highest paid female athletes in the world, nine represent tennis. There are no Russians among them.
