The RFU will decide Karpin’s future as coach of the Russian national team after the matches in March
President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov announced the future of Valery Karpin as head coach of the Russian national team. RIA Novosti learned about this.
Dyukov said that Karpin has a desire to continue working. He emphasized that the decision will be made after the team’s March matches. It will depend on whether the Russian national team will be returned to international tournaments and whether Karpin will be ready to leave Rostov and focus only on the national team.
In November, Dyukov said that Karpin had given no reason to doubt his work, and he had a contract. The head of the RFU considered that in 2023 the Russian team had done a great job.
Karpin will lead the Russian national team in the summer of 2021. He replaced Stanislav Cherchesov, who left the national team amid the team’s failure at Euro 2020. The agreement with the specialist runs until the end of 2023.
