Alexander Ovechkin admitted that he does not know the reasons for the record goalless streak
Russian forward of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin spoke about the record goalless streak in the National Hockey League (NHL). His words are quoted by the league website.
The forward admitted that he does not know the reasons. “You need a little luck. I have a pretty good chance, but sometimes it’s just a period where you’re holding the stick too tightly because you didn’t score. Or something like that,” Ovechkin said.
This season, Ovechkin broke his own anti-record for the duration of a goalless streak, which he set in 2017. Then he didn’t score a goal for ten games in a row. Now the Russian has not been able to score in 13 matches.
Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005, and throughout his overseas career he has played for Washington. Together with the team, the Russian won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
