Deportivo Alavés lost against Girona 0-3 this Monday in the 17th day of LaLiga EA Sports played in Montilivi. In this way, the Catalan team regains the lead in the standings, with two points ahead of Real Madrid.

Miguel Ángel Sánchez’s team wanted to take the game from minute 1. They were ambitious and the Ukrainian Artem Dovbyk could have been the first to open the scoring during the first minutes of the game, but his header crashed on the shoulder of Rafa Marin. The ‘babazorros’ have trusted their options more to the counterattack and the speed of Samu Omorodion, who has had the best of the Alava team, the first with David López managing to contain him when he faced Gazzaniga.

Despite this threat, Girona has not let up and has sought to open the scoring as soon as possible, achieving it in the 23rd minute through Dovbyk, who finished off a save by Sivera into the net with a shot from Yan Couto, key in the three goals from the locals. The goal has further reassured Míchel’s team that although they had a small scare with a header from Omorodion, they headed towards victory on the stroke of half-time with the score at 2-0, the work of Portu and after a good attack by the Brazilian full-back.

Deportivo Alavés took a step forward after the break trying to close the gap as soon as possible. Rafa Marín, with a header that went close to the post, and Luis Rioja, with a shot from outside the area, were on the verge of achieving it, but little by little Girona recovered and made the final decision.

Thus, a new action by Yan Couto in the Vitorian area has ended in a penalty and a double by Dobvyk who has already reached ten goals in the domestic championship. With the game over, Michel has begun to distribute efforts and the match has opened up to both sides, but neither the locals have been able to increase the score despite good options from Pablo Torre and Valery, nor have the visitors made up for it, with Rubén Duarte crashing a ball on the crossbar.
