Fetisov assessed Russia’s possible deprivation of membership in the IIHF

Fetisov said that the International Hockey Federation has no right to exclude Russia

Two-time Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov assessed the possible deprivation of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) of membership in the International Hockey Federation (IIHF). His words are quoted by VseProSport.

“What will happen if Russia is excluded from the IIHF? Who are they to us? They have no right to exclude, they violate all rights, let them try!” – Fetisov said.

Earlier it was reported that sanctions could be applied to the FHR if the organization continues to ignore decisions in the case of CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. According to Match TV, because of this, the IIHF may file a lawsuit with the disciplinary committee.

On September 1, Fedotov took to the ice in a Kontinental Hockey League match. The IIHF fined the FHR and the player himself, threatening additional sanctions if he continued to participate in matches. After this, Fedotov repeatedly participated in championship matches.

On August 14, the IIHF disqualified the hockey player for four months and banned CSKA from making international transfers for a year. The army team was denied registration of a contract with Fedotov for the new KHL season due to the player’s existing agreement with the Philadelphia Flyers National Hockey League club. He was supposed to leave for the United States a year earlier, but was detained on suspicion of evading military service, after which he was sent to serve in the Russian Navy.
