The winners of the Copa Sudamericana and Recopa Sudamericana 2023, Liga de Quito and Independiente del Valle, define the Liga Pro title with the option of a double for their end-of-season showcases.
In the first match, there was a draw (0-0) in Chillo Jijón, so without a sporting advantage, the two capital clubs meet in the White House, where, if the draw continues, the champion will be determined by penalty kicks.
Appearing in the first final game, Whites goalkeeper Alexander Domínguez hopes that the revenge game will be aimed at the Liga and lead the Albos to their twelfth crown in national football, the first since the Pro League was founded in 2019.
The league welcomes Independiente with the home field advantage and the support of its fans. But on the pitch “we have to try to be confident in what we are going to do, believe in our game and our players,” Domínguez said ahead of the decisive match.
The Valley side have the option of adding a second Pro League title once they reach the crown in 2021.
Regarding the team’s preparations for the final game, Argentine coach Martín Anselmi highlighted the “emphasis” placed on the details of the first game. “We stepped up things that we thought we were doing very well, but this is a new game, in a new scenario and against a team that is at home, so things change,” he pointed out.
“We have prepared the players for different circumstances, it will be a game played tactically and they are ready to interpret and solve actions, because there are no other 90 minutes, so we have to be ready for every circumstance,” said Anselmi. (D)
