Kostomarov and Navka repeated a fragment of the winning program from the 2006 Olympic Games
Olympic champions in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov and Tatyana Navka performed a joint performance on ice as part of Ilya Averbukh’s show “Together and Forever”. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The skaters repeated a fragment of the “Carmen” free program, with which they won the 2006 Games in Turin. Earlier, on December 17, Kostomarov performed another number in the show – with his wife Oksana Domnina. For him, this was his first time skating in front of an audience.
On December 11, Kostomarov performed his first training session wearing prosthetics at the skating rink. In the footage, he performs “flashlights”, learns to accelerate and brake. “And I said that I would stand on the ice!” – noted the athlete.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire hand of his right hand and several fingers of his left. Later, he was fitted with prosthetic legs and right arm.
