“Rostov” terminated the contract with former Russian national team player Alexei Ionov
The Rostov football club has parted ways with former Russian national team player Alexei Ionov. This was reported on the team’s website.
It is noted that the contract between Rostov and the 34-year-old midfielder was terminated by mutual consent. The agreement was valid until June 2025. The club wished Ionov a successful continuation of his career, good health and many exciting matches.
The footballer played for the team from 2017 to 2020 and from the summer of 2023. In the current season of the Russian Premier League (RPL), he played 14 matches and was not effective. Ionov is the winner of the UEFA Cup and the champion of Russia as part of Zenit St. Petersburg.
After 18 matches, Rostov is in tenth place in the RPL standings, with 21 points. Krasnodar is in the lead with 38 points. The tournament went on a winter break and will resume on March 3.
