Olympic champion Kolesnichenko said she was not upset by the IOC decision
Three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Kolesnichenko called the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to admit Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris senseless. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The athlete said she was not upset. She drew attention to the fact that synchronized swimming at the Olympic Games is presented only in the form of a duet and a group, which means that the Russians will not be able to compete in any case.
On December 8, the IOC announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN). At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the Games.
On September 4, it became known that the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be able to take part in events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one person.
