Boris Mikhailov explained hockey player Ovechkin’s goalless streak in the NHL as tension
Two-time Olympic champion and Soviet hockey legend Boris Mikhailov explained the goalless streak of Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Mikhailov believed that psychological stress was to blame for everything. “When he forgets about the fact that he needs to score, then he will do well. If he wasn’t in shape, they wouldn’t have put him in,” he said. The champion added that Ovechkin only needs to score one goal to feel the taste of victory.
In the 2023/2024 season, Ovechkin repeated his personal anti-record for matches without goals in the National Hockey League (NHL). The forward has failed to score in ten games in a row.
Ovechkin ranks second on the list of the best snipers in NHL history behind Canadian Wayne Gretzky. The Russian has 827 goals scored. He has been playing in the NHL since 2005.
