Coach Tarasova said that she was proud of Kostomarov who took to the ice to skate
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova commented on the first training session of Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov after prosthetics on ice skates. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, she said that she was proud of the skater.
“He proves to us that he can do anything, and shows us how to fight such serious and practically incurable diseases. I love him and wish him health,” Tarasova said.
Earlier, Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov showed his first training session wearing prosthetics at the skating rink. In the footage, he performs “flashlights”, learns to accelerate and brake. “And I said that I would stand on the ice!” – noted the athlete.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire hand of his right hand and several fingers of his left. Later, he was fitted with prosthetic legs and right arm.
