The head of ARAF Ivanov said that he was not surprised that World Athletics did not allow Russians to attend the Olympic Games
President of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) Petr Ivanov reacted to the fact that the World Athletics did not allow Russians to attend the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Ivanov said he was not surprised by the decision, since the World Athletics board extended the suspension of athletes from Russia even before the terms of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He expressed regret about this.
At the same time, the head of ARAF emphasized that the association has approved the composition of the working group, which will deal with the conditions and criteria for the return of Russian track and field athletes to international competitions, including the Olympic Games.
On December 8, the IOC announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. At the same time, the head of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, said that Russian track and field athletes will miss the Olympics.
