Former Russian figure skater Volodin paired with German Hase won the Grand Prix final
German Minerva Hase and her compatriot, former Russian figure skater Nikita Volodin, won the pairs competition in the Grand Prix finals in Beijing. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The athletes scored 206.43 points in the sum of the two programs. Italians Sara Conti and Niccolo Macchii took second place (205.88). The top three were completed by Canadian representatives Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps (204.3).
A native of St. Petersburg, Volodin represented Russia until 2022. In May last year, he changed his sports citizenship to German.
On December 1, four-time Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov condemned Russian athletes changing their citizenship. “My proposal is that those athletes who decided to compete for other countries should be deprived of our citizenship. Once and for all. And ban entry into Russia, all of them are no longer our citizens,” he called.
