American journalist McKee: I don’t want Ovechkin to break Gretzky’s record
American Sportsnet journalist Sam McKee admitted in a podcast his hatred of Russian Washington Capitals striker Alexander Ovechkin.
Mackey said he doesn’t want Ovechkin to break Canadian Wayne Gretzky’s record for goals scored in the National Hockey League (NHL). He emphasized that he hated the hockey player from the moment he followed him at the World Youth Championship. “So I don’t need him to break the record,” the journalist added.
Ovechkin ranks second on the list of leading scorers in NHL history behind Gretzky. The Russian has 827 goals scored.
Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005, and throughout his overseas career he has played for Washington. Together with the team, the Russian won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
