He Sestao River has remained removed of the Copa del Rey of the 2023-24 season, this Thursday, after being defeated in Las Llanas by 1-2 against Celta. The Biscayan team, which has fought with strength and brilliance, tied in the 74th minute the 0-1 that had been established Tasos Douvikaswith an own goal, but, four minutes later, Douvikas himself made it 1-2, from a penalty, and, in this way, the Galician team has sealed its place in the round of 32 and Sestao River has finished in the second round his career in the competition.

Celta started the match strong, looking to take the lead early, and the truth is that Rafa Benítez’s men have achieved that goal, since They took the lead in the 17th minute, with Douvikas’ goal, who has signed a good deed. Sestao River, however, knew how to balance the game, and, until the break, played with intensity and tried to make use of its resources. The Biscayan team’s rival was not comfortable in the last minutes of the first half, but, at half-time, the victory belonged to the Galician team.

Spurred on by their fans, Sestao River played with even more faith and greater strength in the second halfand finally, in the 74th minute, he achieved the tie, in an action in which Unai Núñez has put the ball into his own goal. Four minutes later, in a controversial penaltyDouvikas scored his team’s second goal, which was, ultimately, decisive.

The push of the Biscayan team has not been translated into a new draw, and, thus, Sestao River has seen how the tie has escaped them. There remains, however, the courage shown by the Basque team, and the difficulties in which it has put its rival, who competes in the highest category.
