Golfer Natalia Guseva became the first Russian woman to play on the LPGA Tour
Russian Natalia Guseva has become a permanent member of the Women’s Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour. This was reported on the website of the Moscow Regional Golf Federation.
For the first time in history, a Russian woman will play in this international tournament. 20-year-old Guseva herself on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) wrote that she is excited about the next stage of life and playing with the best players in the world. She thanked the coach and family members who were with her during the most difficult times.
In September, Guseva became the winner of the Black Desert Championship, the second most important women’s tour in the United States. According to Match TV, the Russian woman received a large number of qualifying points to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
On May 6, the International Golf Federation (IGF) allowed Russian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. The IGF said that Russians and Belarusians will be able to take part in the competition as individual athletes – without any associations with Russia or Belarus and their national federation.
