40-year-old Ilya Kovalchuk signed a contract with Spartak until the end of the season
The Moscow hockey club Spartak officially announced the signing of a contract with forward Ilya Kovalchuk. This was reported on the red-white Telegram channel.
The duration of the agreement with the 40-year-old player has become known; it will expire at the end of this season. “Welcome back to Spartak, Ilya Valerievich!” – the club said in a statement.
Kovalchuk’s return to Spartak was announced on December 5 during the regular season match of the Continental Hockey League (KHL), in which the red-whites met Dynamo (8:7). It was specified that the forward will play for Spartak under number 71.
Kovalchuk played in the National Hockey League for several clubs for more than ten years. The forward’s last team was Omsk Avangard, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup. The athlete suspended his career after the 2020/2021 season. He is a student of Spartak.
