CSKA President Giner declared Akinfeev’s superiority over Yashin and Dasaev
CSKA President Evgeny Giner compared the achievements of army goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev with the successes of former USSR national team goalkeepers Lev Yashin and Rinat Dasaev. The functionary spoke out on the YouTube channel “Come out!”
According to Giner, Akinfeev surpassed his predecessors. “I have all the respect for Yashin, Dasaev and others, but, in my opinion, Igor has already set all the records: clean sheets, number of matches, etc., etc.,” said the president of the Moscow club.
On November 18, Akinfeev explained his reluctance to leave for Europe. “I had a dream to play for CSKA, to play in cool tournaments and games. I had it all. And I don’t regret anything in my life, not a thing,” the goalkeeper noted.
37-year-old Akinfeev has played for CSKA throughout his career. Together with the capital club, he won the Russian Championship six times, the national Cup and Super Cup seven times. In addition, as part of the army team, Akinfeev won the UEFA Cup.
