Incredible tie-break in PlusLiga’s hit. Fantastic Bieniek was not enough

Both teams aspire to be in the top league, which includes the European champion and the Polish champion, Jastrzębski Węgiel. Therefore, Monday’s meeting of the 11th PlusLiga volleyball round was going to be very interesting.

The game in Zawiercie was extremely uneven, and both teams played in waves. The hosts won in the first set to 21, while in the next set they were broken until 10:25. Such a result, however, did not break down, which counteracted this failure in the third game, which was won smoothly to 18.

However, the real emotions did not start until the fourth set. At the end of the set Zawiercie was leading 21:18. The finish, however, belonged to which of the next nine balls won as many as seven and by winning 25:23 it led to a tie-break.

In the tie-break, the fight was unbelievable and fierce. It brought the game to an advantage. The first five match balls were not used by the hosts, but from 18:17, thanks to Robert Taht’s service ace, the Bełchatów players took the initiative and had as many as six chances to win. Nothing of that. From 23:24, Aluron CMC Warta won three more points. The home team first stopped Karol Kłos with a block, and then, after an effective counterattack and an amazing tie-break (26:24), they won the match 3-2.

The center PGE Skra played a fantastic match. The Polish representative scored 20 points for his team, of which 10 with an attack (63% efficiency), 3 with a service and as many as 7 with a block! However, the attacker of Aluronu Warta was chosen as the MVP of the match (22 points). Two other players of PGE Skra Bełchatów also scored above 20 points – Aleksandar Atanasijević (21) and Milad Ebadipour (21).

Thanks to this win, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie advanced to the fourth place with 21 points on his account, pushing PGE Skra Bełchatów to the fifth position (also 21 points). He leads ZAKSA (31 points) before (29) and Projekt Warszawa (23).
