A goal in injury time causes Eibar’s defeat at Villarreal B’s home (1-0)
Painful defeat for Eibar in La Cerámica against Villarreal B (1-0). A match in which the locals have scored the winning goal in the 92nd minute thanks to a commotion in the area that Forés has taken advantage of. Joseba Etxeberria’s men played with 10 players throughout the second half after the expulsion of Berrocal with direct red just before the break.
Éibar came out more motivated than Villarreal’s reserve team and as soon as they started they gave their first warning with a well-placed shot from Stoichkov into the side of the net.
His own did not fail Stoichkov in the 33rd minute, but the goal was disallowed after being reviewed by the VAR, for offside.
On the brink of half-time, Berrocal was sent off, leaving Eibar with ten and changing the scenario of the match.
In the second half, Miguel Álvarez’s team tried to take advantage of its numerical superiority
The goal took a while to arrive, but it came. It was in the minute 92 when Álex Forés appeared to beat Luca Zidane in a messy action.
Bautista was able to tie in the last breath, although his shot went just wide, so Villarreal B secured a key victory for their aspirations.
