Bayern Munich seeks symbolic title of the German

Leaders Bayern Munich need only one point on their trip to Stuttgart (15th) for the 16th round of the Bundesliga, to win the symbolic title of autumn champion of the German Championship.

‘Rekordmeister’ achieved a six-point lead this weekend over their main pursuers, Borussia Dortmund, who were no more than a 1-1 draw with Bochum (10th) away from home.

After Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich and Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Musiala was injured and the participation of Frenchman Corentin Tolisso became doubtful, announced coach Julian Nagelsmann on Monday, without specifying the extent of the injury.

The French midfielder withdrew from the field in the 64th minute with no signs of discomfort evident in his team’s 2-1 victory over Mainz.

Worse luck had Musiala. The 18-year-old German striker, who formed the attacking duo with Tolisso, fractured a metacarpal in his hand. “Theoretically, he could play, but let’s wait,” said Nagelsmann.

The Bayern coach is also expected to decide whether to call Goretzka after the player suffered a knee injury.

Kimmich will be absent for covid, while Sabitzer has discomfort in one leg.

Therefore, only two midfielders are 100%: Spaniard Mar Roca and French Michaël Cuisance. The former played just 25 minutes throughout the season, while the latter played for a while in the German Cup.

Borussia Dortmund will face last-placed Greuther Furth on Wednesday in their stadium, who won his first victory of the season against Union Berlin (6th) on Sunday.

The main course will be played by Bayer Leverkusen (3rd) and Hoffenheim (4th), who will face off with the gates closed due to anti-covid sanitary restrictions.

Hoffenheim took fourth place from Freiburg after beating them 2-1 in front of 750 authorized spectators, while Bayer Leverkusen suffered a serious setback when defeated 5-2 by Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
