Ecuador’s artistic gymnastics team obtained one silver and two bronze medals during the South American Championship of this sport, which took place in San Juan, Argentina.

The tricolor was made up of Alais Perea Ponce and Joan Pilay, of Guayas; Angie Santacruz, from Chimborazo; Israel Chiriboga, Johnny Valencia and Joshua Calvache, from Pichincha, and with this international participation the Ecuadorian Gymnastics Federation, which is chaired Michelle Bravo, closed its activities this season.

Alais Perea was the most outstanding of the delegation, since he obtained a silver and a tanned medal.

In beam, the Ecuadorian representative received a grade of 12,733, which allowed her to finish second, behind the Brazilian Julia Das Neves Botega, which reached the golden metal and surpassing the also Brazilian Ana Lujiza Pirez, that with 12,367 units the bronze was hung.

The Ecuadorian stood out again in the international tournament at the end third in the jump finals with a score of 13,033; the second box was occupied by the Peruvian Ana Karina Méndez, with 13,100 rating; while the Chilean Franchesca Antonella Santi, with 13,250 units, won gold.

For its part, Israel Fernando Chiriboga he hung the bronze medal by placing third in the bar final, with a score of 13,033; Meanwhile he Argentine Santiago Mayol, with 13,100, he was second; and the gold medal was obtained Patrick Sampaio, from Brazil, with a rating of 13,367.
