He Lointek Gernika Bizkaia closed this Wednesday EuroCup group stage with a defeat by 70-69 on the track Zaglebie Sosnowiecin a match that the Basque team faced already qualified for the second round of the European competition.

Lointek Gernika has controlled the first half of a match that they have come to dominate with a maximum advantage of ten points (16-26) shortly after starting the second quarter, supported by the good direction of Laia Flores and the success of the Lithuanian Gabby Nikitinaite.

The Polish team, however, has reacted, and has not allowed Lointek Gernika to open any further gap. Pushed by the French guard Zoe Wadoux, Sosnowiec has balanced the match, until turning the score around (48-47, in the 25th minute) and finishing the third quarter with a three-point advantage.

With 57-57 on the scoreboard, The match was decided in the next five minutes, when the Polish team took advantage of a total blackout by the Biscayan squad to achieve an 11-0 that was definitive. The final reaction of Lucas Fernández has not found a prize. With two seconds left, with 70-67, Laia Flores made three free throws to send the game to overtime; Flores scored the first two, and Sofía da Silva captured the rebound for the third, but she missed the shot and left the victory in Poland.
