The IOC announced its intention to test Russian athletes during the 2024 Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced plans to test Russians during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. RIA Novosti reports this.
IOC Communications Director Mark Adams said the process of checking Russian athletes for compliance with the organization’s criteria will continue until the Olympics and during the Games. He stressed that the decision on the admission of Russians will be made when the right moment comes.
On October 12, the IOC suspended the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) until further notice due to the inclusion of representatives of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in the organization. It was noted that the ROC will no longer be able to receive funds from the IOC.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who do not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. However, athletes associated with the armed forces or security forces of their countries are recommended not to be allowed to participate in tournaments.
